Blood Borne Pathogens
Hazard Com.

In this month's safety topics, we will focus on two critical areas: Blood Borne Pathogens and Hazard Communication at industrial construction sites. Understanding Blood B Pathogens is essential for minimizing health risks and ensuring a safe work environment. Additionally, we'll dive into the importance of Hazard Communication, particularly the role of Safety Data Sheets, which provide vital information on handling hazardous materials safely. Stay informed and prioritize safety to protect yourself and your colleagues.

Permit Required Confined Spaces

Welcome to this month’s safety topic: Permit Required Confined Spaces. In this session, will address crucial safety concerns for individuals entering confined spaces and emphasize the of understanding the specific roles of each team member involved. Together, we will ensure that everyone is aware of the risks and responsibilities, fostering a safer work environment. Let's dive in and enhance our knowledge for better safety practices!

Job Hazard Assessments (JHAs) are crucial for identifying potential risks in the workplace and ensuring the safety of all employees. By assessing hazards before beginning a task, teams can implement effective control measures to minimize risks. Additionally, being aware of line of fire risks is essential to prevent accidents and injuries caused by moving equipment or materials. A proactive approach to these safety practices fosters a safer work environment for everyone involved.

May

Respiratory Protection
PPE

Throughout the month of May, our safety spotlight is on respiratory protection and the critical role that personal protective equipment (PPE) plays in keeping our crews safe. From understanding the basics of respirators to mastering proper use, care, and selection of PPE, each week dives into practical knowledge that helps reduce risk and prevent injuries. We’ll explore the right way to wear and maintain your gear, how to respond to different job hazards, and why PPE is always your last—but vital—line of defense. Whether it’s protecting your lungs, eyes, hands, or hearing, this month is all about working smarter, staying protected, and sending everyone home safe.

July

Assured Grounding
Lockout/Tagout

This month, we’re doubling down on the core systems that protect workers from electrical hazards and unexpected equipment startups—Assured Grounding and Lockout/Tagout (LOTO). Our July refresher training highlights the critical importance of inspecting and tagging electrical equipment, identifying proper grounding methods, and understanding the six essential steps of LOTO. From using GFCI protection to verifying zero-energy states before maintenance, this series is designed to prevent life-altering incidents and reinforce a culture of safety and responsibility. Whether you're operating a grinder or preparing to service complex machinery, this month is all about knowing when to stop, lock, and tag before you touch.

August

Fall Safety

In August, A-Lert Construction is putting a sharp focus on Fall Protection to safeguard our teams from one of the most common and deadly hazards on industrial job sites. Throughout the month, refresher training covers the dangers of working at height, the correct setup and use of fall arrest systems, critical inspection procedures, and safe practices around floor and roof openings. Whether it’s choosing the right harness, anchoring lanyards properly, or recognizing faulty equipment before use, each week builds essential knowledge and habits that help prevent serious injuries. From steel beams to scaffolds, we’re making sure every worker is equipped to stay safe and return home.

September

In September, our safety focus zeroes in on welding and cutting—from the sparks to the smoke. Each week highlights a critical piece of the puzzle: Week one covers essential safety practices to prevent electric shock, burns, and fires during welding and cutting operations. Week two dives into compressed gas cylinder safety, emphasizing proper storage, handling, and inspection. Week three explores the serious health risks of welding and cutting fumes, underscoring the need for ventilation and awareness of hazardous byproducts. Week four wraps up with a deeper look at local exhaust systems and how to select the right respiratory protection for the job. Whether it’s shielding from arc flash, managing fumes, or preventing explosions, this month is all about keeping our crews safe from head to toe—and from the inside out.

October

Fire Safety - Hot Work

This month, our team is turning up the heat on fire safety—literally. October's refresher training dives deep into the dangers of hot work, such as welding, grinding, and cutting, and emphasizes how proper planning, PPE, and permits can prevent workplace fires. We also break down the fire triangle and highlight safer alternatives to hot work whenever possible. The second half of the month shifts focus to fire extinguisher awareness—covering when, where, and how to use them effectively, and stressing the importance of monthly inspections to ensure extinguishers are ready when needed. From spark to suppression, the goal is simple: fire safety is everyone's responsibility.

November

Electrical Safety

This month’s training is all about keeping our crews alive and fully charged—safely. November’s focus is on electrical safety across the board: recognizing the deadly hazards of electricity on the jobsite, understanding how Ground Fault Circuit Interrupters (GFCIs) protect us, practicing safe work habits around live and de-energized circuits, and defending ourselves against arc flash incidents. From shocks and burns to catastrophic blasts, the risks are invisible but very real. We’ll cover how to avoid dangerous contact, test and use the right gear, inspect tools and cords, and follow lockout/tagout procedures. If it sparks, surges, or sizzles—this month is about treating it with the respect it demands. âš¡ Stay alert, stay insulated, and stay 10 feet back!

December

December’s safety spotlight dives into the high-stakes world of Process Safety Management (PSM) and the real risks behind hazardous chemicals like hexane. This month’s training equips teams to recognize and respond to chemical hazards, enforce extraction area safety rules, and understand how even a small leak or spark could trigger major consequences. From learning about mechanical integrity and hot work permits to spotting symptoms of cold stress and hypothermia, December is all about protecting our crews against invisible threats—both chemical and environmental. If you're working near chemical processes or in frigid conditions, this is the month to be extra alert, fully trained, and bundled up. Safety doesn’t clock out in December—and neither should your vigilance.
